Terms of Service

The rules for using OffGrid, including what the product is and is not.

What OffGrid is

OffGrid is a preparedness workspace for households. It helps you organise kits, contacts, documents, plans, backup power and recovery tasks, and it shows hazard information published by official agencies and global monitoring bodies.

OffGrid is not an emergency service, a dispatch service, a warning authority, a navigation service, or a medical, legal or insurance adviser. It does not decide whether, when or where you should evacuate.

Coverage you can expect

Official local warnings are strongest in the United States (National Weather Service) and Canada (Environment and Climate Change Canada). Households elsewhere can use every planning, kit, document, power and recovery feature and can see contextual global hazard information from USGS earthquakes and GDACS, but not official local warnings for their own area.

Feeds can be delayed, incomplete or unavailable. Always confirm anything that matters with the issuing authority.

Your account and household

You need an individual account. You are responsible for your credentials and for anything done under your account. You must have permission before entering another person's details, needs or documents.

A household has an owner and invited members with roles. Household data is visible to the members of that household according to their role, and to nobody else.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to bypass access controls, scrape feeds at scale, upload unlawful or malicious material, impersonate other people, or use OffGrid to cause harm. We may suspend an account to protect people or the platform.

Changes, availability and content

Features may change while the product develops. You keep the rights in what you upload and grant OffGrid only the rights needed to store and display it for you. OffGrid software, branding and curated material remain protected.
